Featured Impacts
As a pilot project, 87North Productions, an independent film production company founded by David Leitch and Kelly McCormick, hosted a nationwide stunt competition. Named the Stunt Previz Showdown, the competition was held in 2023 to support the stunt community during the long entertainment industry strikes. Team Femme Fatale, a majority female team, was the grand prize winner among 10 top-tier teams who competed for the $10,000 prize.
An effort we are particularly proud of was the donation of equipment to Runner Studios, a group of young Nigerian filmmakers and movie lovers who produce action shorts and videos, one of which featured scenes from Hobbs & Shaw.
87North Productions offers a variety of classes including teaching actors how to excel in action films. The Foundation has provided equipment and offered scholarships for young performers to attend the classes.
We recognize the invaluable role animals play in alleviating mental stress. Since the feature of the dog “Daisy” in the first John Wick movie, 87North Productions has promoted pet ownership in their projects and the 87North Action Foundation supports animal rescue centers.
Current moviemaking operations can burden the environment in local and broad ways, and while the industry is working to reduce the environmental impacts, we have donated to location-based and global organizations that preserve and protect the environment including the Environmental Defense Fund, Oceana Inc., and Save our Seine in Winnipeg.
